Bible 1. The Bible is the word of God. God used holy men to pen down this book. (II Peter 1:21) 2. The Bible is the instruction book from God. It gives forth the plan of salvation and then gives instruction as to how to live the Christian life. (II Timothy 3:16,17) 3. The Word of God is alive and powerful and should be the total basis for preaching. (Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 4:2) 4. We believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of word of God. Verbal meaning that the Holy Spirit guided in the choice of words. The Holy Spirit used the authors personal qualities, traits, style of writing in the process of recording the word of God. Plenary means that every word is inspired. Inspiration means that God breathed the words and not just the concepts only. The Bible is without error.
God 1. We believe in the existence of God. (Psalm 14:1) 2. We believe in the unity of God. There are three persons in the God head. (Matthew 28:19; John 14:16) 3. God has many attributes but here are three of them: Omniscience - all knowing (Psalm 147:5) Omnipotent - all powerful (Job 42:2) Omnipresence - everywhere present (Psalm 139:7-12)
Holy Spirit 1. The Holy Spirit is God. (Acts 5:4) 2. Here are some of the duties of the Holy Spirit: Regeneration (John 3:5) Baptizes into the body of Christ (I Corinthians 12:13) Indwells believers (I Corinthians 6:19) Seals the believer which is the assurance of eternal security (Ephesians 4:30) Fills or controls (Ephesians 5:18)
Jesus Christ 1. Jesus is God. (John 1:1,2) 2. Christ was fully God and fully man. (Philippians 2:1-11) 3. Jesus was virgin born. (Matthew 1:23) 4. Jesus is the perfect lamb. He lived a perfect life. (Hebrews 7:26; 2 Corinthians 5:21) 5. Jesus is the Savior. (John 1:29) 6. His blood atones for our sin. (Acts 4:12) Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. Salvation 1. All are sinners. (Romans 3:23) 2. Wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23) 3. God loves the sinner and He demonstrated that at Calvary. (Romans 5:8) 4. Whosoever will can be saved. (Romans 10:9,10,13) 5. Salvation is by grace through faith plus nothing and minus nothing. (Ephesians 2:8,9) 6. Salvation is forever. Eternal security is what the Bible teaches. (Ephesians 4:30; I Peter 1:5) 7. One can have the assurance of salvation. (I John 5:13) 8. Jesus is the only way. (John 14:6)
Heaven & Hell 1. Heaven is literal. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (II Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:23) Jesus is preparing us a place. (John 14:1-6) Revelation 21 and 22 gives us a picture of the believers final home. 2. Hell is literal. (Luke 16) Unsaved go there after death then at the Great White Throne are taken out and judged and cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:11-15)
The Church 1. The church is the body of Christ. (I Corinthians 12) 2. There is the local church. (Revelation 2 and 3) 3. There is the universal church. (I Corinthians 12:13) 4. The purposes of the local church are worship, instruction, fellowship, service and evangelism. 5. The ordinances of the church are: Baptism by immersion (Matthew 28:19,20) Lord's supper (Matthew 26:26; I Corinthians 11)
Separation 1. Each believer is to live a holy life. Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. (I Peter 1:16) 2. We are to depart from iniquity. (II Timothy 2:19) 3. We are to be unspotted from the world. (James 1:27)
